Our Commitment to Student Health, Safety, and Compliance
At My Lunch Day, we prioritize offering healthy, safe, and nutritious meals as essential for student success. We work only with food vendors that meet or surpass the strict legislative and nutritional standards set by the Province of Ontario.
Through continuous auditing and strict vendor vetting, My Lunch Day remains a trusted partner in supporting healthy, compliant, and safe school environments across Ontario.
Nutritional Compliance: PPM 150 & The Education Act
Every menu item offered through our service is strictly audited against Policy/Program Memorandum No. 150 (PPM 150), established under the Healthy Food for Healthy Schools Act.
The 80/20 Rule: At least 80% of our vendors’ menus consist of “Sell Most” items—nutrient-dense foods packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
No more than 20% fall into the “Sell Less” category.
Zero Tolerance: We strictly prohibit any “Not Permitted for Sale” items, including foods with artificial trans fats, excessive sodium, or high sugar content.
Food Safety & Public Health Standards
Student health cannot be compromised. All our food partners operate in full compliance with the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA) and Ontario Regulation 493/17 (Food Premises).
Inspected Facilities: Meals are prepared exclusively in commercial, commercially licensed facilities regularly inspected by local Public Health units.
Certified Handlers: In accordance with provincial law, vendor kitchens operate under the direct supervision of staff holding valid Ontario Food Handler Certifications.
Allergen Safety & Anaphylaxis Management
In alignment with Sabrina’s Law (Anaphylaxis Management), we take food allergies with the utmost seriousness to ensure a safe environment for all students.
Nut-Controlled Environments: Our vendors maintain strict ingredient-checking and preparation protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
Full Transparency: Complete ingredient lists are maintained and can be provided to school administrations or parents upon request to accommodate specific dietary needs or severe allergies.
